Available: All year for Ambulatory Pediatrics. Limited availability for Inpatient Pediatrics.

Prerequisites: Third or Fourth year status; pediatric clerkship must be completed
80% Clinical; 15% Lab; 5% Lecture

The purpose of this elective is to provide the senior student with an opportunity to work closely with a pediatrician in all aspects of inpatient and outpatient care of infants and children as well as experience a busy pediatric office practice. The student will be an active participant in use of diagnostic skills and therapeutic applications. This elective experience will include:

Daily rounds in pediatric wards with members of the pediatric staff.
Assignment of case workups with responsibility for same.
Attendance at regular pediatric conferences.
Attendance at regular pediatric x-ray conferences.
Attendance at autopsy on all pediatric patients.
Attendance at Ft. Wayne Pediatric Cardiology Clinics (staffed by Riley Cardiology).

Prerequisites: Third or Fourth year status; pediatric clkshp must be completed 100% Clinical

The purpose of this elective is to provide the senior student with an opportunity to work closely with a pediatrician in all aspects of inpatient and outpatient care of infants and children in a busy pediatric office practice. The student will be an active participant in daily in-patient rounds, use of diagnostic skills, and therapeutic applications. The student will find the rotation unique in that there are 2 pediatric sub-specialties in one group. Dr. James Hill is the specialist in hematology-oncology and Dr. Steven Cohen in nephrology.
