I was born and raised in Washington, D.C. My parents transferred to Fort Wayne when I was a young adult and I joined them with my family when we wanted a change to an affordable housing area with vast opportunities for employment and great public schools.
I earned my undergraduate degree in nursing from Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne and my M.D. degree is from Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM). I completed my Family Medicine residency here in Fort Wayne and was an Assistant Director of the Fort Wayne Medical Education Program before being recruited to Indianapolis. I was the Director of Pre Doctoral Medical Education at IUSM for the Department of Family Medicine prior to being named director of FWMEP in 2004. My clinical interests include patient education, medical informatics, and healthcare to underserved and immigrant populations. I was encouraged by several medical school preceptors however, to focus my vocation on teaching, and it is the brightest spot in my professional life.
I have a son, a stepdaughter, and enjoy mothering and training an unpredictable number of Shetland Sheepdogs that I “rescue” with my husband, Brian.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1999 from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine, after which I moved to Fort Wayne for my residency training here at the Fort Wayne Medical Education Program. I completed my training in 2002, serving as Co-Chief Resident in my 3rd year. Finding Fort Wayne a great place to practice medicine and raise a family, I joined a private practice here. My clinical interests are in internal medicine, obstetrics, and pediatrics. I then joined the faculty of FWMEP in 2003 as the Director of Osteopathic Medical Education and subsequently have taken on the role of Assistant Director at Parkview Hospital while continuing my private practice. My wife Angie and I have two beautiful daughters, Sydney who is 6 and Riley who is 4. My interests outside of medicine include waterfowl hunting, fishing, and golf.

I’m an Illinois native and first came to Fort Wayne as a student at Concordia Senior College where I received a BA degree in Natural Science. I returned to Illinois to complete my medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. Afterward I completed a Family Medicine Residency at MacNeal Memorial Hospital, Berwyn, IL. I practiced medicine in Michigan before returning to Fort Wayne. I am also a Colonel in the Michigan Army National Guard, having served over thirty years, including two ninety day tours of combat duty in Iraq. My clinical interests include ADHD, Geriatrics, Type II Diabetes, and office procedures. I supervise our Geriatrics rotation and am a medical director for two area nursing homes. My wife, Nancy, and I have one daughter, two sons, and one granddaughter. In my leisure time, I enjoy bird hunting, reading, especially about history and military history, and woodworking. Some call me Mr. Fix-It around the residency, so do not be surprised to see me with unusual tools in my hand.

I’m one of the first group of physicians to be nationally board certified in Family Medicine in 1971 although I had been in private practice since 1963. My education is Indiana University all the way – Undergrad, Med School, and Residency. I was born near Columbia City, IN and have lived in Fort Wayne for 40 years. My practice was directed toward industrial medicine from 1983 to 2005 when I joined Parkview Medical Group as a Family Medicine physician.
Being a Volunteer Clinical Associate Professor at Indiana University SOM and an Assistant Director at FWMEP is great incentive to keep myself current and stay one step ahead of the medical students and residents.
My interests include sports medicine on the local, state, national and international levels. Being on the 1988 Pan Am Games staff in Indianapolis was a big thrill. I didn’t have much choice in this avocation though – I have 5 sons! I still work with the Concordia High School Cadets and was awarded Co-Team Physician of the Year in 2005 from the Commission on Sports Medicine, Indiana State Medical Association.

I received my B.Sc. (Honors) Degree in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo and my M.D. Degree from the University of Western Ontario. Following residency in Family Medicine at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario, Canada, I entered private practice and provided the full spectrum of patient care there for seven years. This was followed by practice with a large multi-specialty group in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for another six years, where I served as a lead physician and site medical director. In addition to patient care, I was involved with organizing and opening a new clinic, implementing an electronic medical record system, redesigning office workflows, and facilitating clinical care improvement initiatives.
I joined the Fort Wayne Medical Education Program as a member of the part-time faculty in 2003, and am presently coordinating the EMR evaluation process for our office. My clinical interests include health care quality, office orthopedics, and evidence-based medicine. My wife Marianne and I have found Fort Wayne to be a great place to live and raise our two sons. I enjoy many sports, including golf and biking with my family as well as competitive curling, when possible.

I received my medical degree from Alexandria University in Egypt and completed my residency here at Fort Wayne Medical Education Program. Although from New Jersey, I loved it here in Fort Wayne and loved the program so much that I joined the teaching staff right out of residency, first as a volunteer and then as an Assistant Director. I have my own solo private practice and enjoy practicing OB and office procedures as part of the full scope of family medicine. I enjoy learning challenging (and sometimes frustrating) things like playing golf and my piano lessons. My favorite activity is time spent with my son, Luke, practicing baseball. |

I was born and raised in Auburn, IN, 20 miles north of Fort Wayne, and have lived in Indiana my entire life. I have a BA in chemistry from Manchester College, North Manchester, IN, and received my MD from Indiana University SOM in 1970. Upon completing my post graduate training in the 2nd class of Fort Wayne Medical Education Program, I entered private practice, which for me still encompasses adult and pediatric medicine, major surgery, obstetrics, and anesthesia. In 1999, while continuing private practice, I became Assistant Director and Instructor of Obstetrics at FWMEP. In my responsibilities, I teach across the breadth of Family Medicine, but am charged primarily with teaching advanced OB, including instrumental and operative delivery.
I maintain membership in American Academy of Family Physicians, American Society of Abdominal Surgeons, and American Society of Anesthesiologists.
I met my wife, Sharon, during post grad training. She was a surgical RN and today works as my nurse and office manager. We have 3 sons. Our middle son, Mike, had a chronic genetic illness and died at age 26 in November 2005. Our other sons followed me into medicine. Steve is a Neonatologist and Phil, our youngest, is a General Surgery resident. My hobbies include fishing, boating, and tinkering with my antique cars, as well as being a hobby chef and baker.

My first love in the medical profession was teaching and that continues to this day. I have been teaching at Fort Wayne Medical Education Program since arriving in Indiana in 1979. In tandem with that, I have been Course Director for the Freshman course “Introduction to Clinical Medicine” since 1980 at Fort Wayne’s regional center of Indiana University School of Medicine as a Clinical Professor. I am boarded in Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine. I was course director for the first ACLS course in Fort Wayne in 1979 and the first ATLS course in Indiana in 1982. I currently am responsible for Family Medicine Junior Clerkship and Senior Elective programs at FWMEP.
I was born in England and spent my formative educational years in Toronto. I am an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan and was fortunate to have attended all their playoff games of their back-to-back World Series Championships in 1992 and 1993. My faithful companions are Mookie, an 18 year old Siamese cat (named for Blue Jays #3 Mookie Wilson 1989-1991), and Boggs, a Golden Retriever (named in memory of my father’s favorite beverage). I enjoy my schedule that allows spending time at my beach house in Florida, playing golf, working in my flower gardens, and running 4 miles daily.
